English 174 course

English 174 it is new education learning course, which depends on the computers and internet. I learned in this semester a lot valuable information about global warming and how to summarize the articles. Also I learned many new vocabularies which are so necessary for my major and my life. However the most interesting part is the way that we used internet blog to post our article. To do a research it was very complicated for me, but now I have gained the perfect and right way to do a research, it is all about give the right question. Voice thread and situation are also very important skills that I will always be using them in the future. I really enjoyed this course because of the symbol and necessary skills which I learned from this course.

Hydorgen car

Nowadays, petrol and diesel cars are the common cars seen around the world. It is found that while using petrol and diesel cars, a huge amount of oil is being burnt which is bad for the global warming problems. However, engineers are under the research of implementing a new innovation of solving this cause, which is known as hydrogen cars. A hydrogen car is a vehicle that uses hydrogen as its main power (Wikipedia). Let us now discuss the advantages and disadvantages of hydrogen fuel as a solution to the problem of petrol and diesel fuel.

The most important problem of fossil fuel is that it produces a huge amount of sorts of pollutants and toxic air pollutants, such as carbon dioxide which is the mean reason of global warming. Also it produces nitrous oxide which is an anesthetic gas and carbon monoxide which inhibits the blood's ability to carry oxygen to body tissues including vital organs such as the heart and brain (Wikipedia).
Fossil fuel is extremely costly and it s not available in many countries like US, who imports oil from middle east countries, so by using hydrogen car system, oil imports countries will save a lot of money.

However there are some disadvantages of hydrogen cars. When they are producing the hydrogen fuel cells also a big amount toxic air pollutants are produced. That means the effect of pollutions that are produced to produce a hydrogen cell has the same effect of pollution of a fuel car (Swain). To produce hydrogen fuel cell without toxic air pollutants will cost a lot of money.

Regarding the advantages of hydrogen fuel cell the biggest advantage is no more toxic emissions .Unlike petrol and diesel cars hydrogen cars will reduce greenhouse emissions and improve the quality of the air to solve the global warming issue. Another advantage is it that it works only by using electricity by adjusting wires and levers, which means there is no need for a steering wheel or a pedal (Dyer). Another advantage is the independence for oil imports countries. We get the hydrogen for the fuel cells from water by a method called (electrolysis).the process is simply splitting water (H2O) into its atomic components (hydrogen and oxygen) using electricity.

In conclusion, I think hydrogen engines are better than furl engines because it is friendly with the environment, but in the same time it is more expensive and is not as efficient as a fuel engine. Regardless it is still better because what new power technology is all about finding a new power sources replacing petrol as a fuel, and which is friendly with the environment which applies to the hydrogen.

cool city

The Cool City maybe the best solution, to this global crisis that we are facing in today’s world. Transportation and Building are the most CO2 produce. Since time we as humans have adapted to climate change, but if we don’t reach a solution on how to deal with this current issue then the world we now maybe lost forever. Masdar city which is in Abu Dhabi is one of these cities. In this essay I am going to argue about some issue of these cities.

The pollution and gas emission that we are causing the earth will have an effect not only on our lives but the future generation as well. But the problem is that the pollution will increase and the cool cities will not be able to hold all the people .Moreover high pollution means more need of huge power of electricity in order to assist their life which is not able in cool cities.

The life style will be totally different in transportation in the cool cities. With the time proceeding the Monorail system will inspire more people to leave there cars and take public transportation. They will also be looking into more multi-modal options for transportation using cars work with a new catalytic converter which reduce harmful gases and fuel consumption, (Cavanaugh).

However it s so expensive to live in the cool city because of the solar energy .As (gregor) said Solar power is getting more affordable as technologies improve. But it's still very expensive that means poor people would not have the chance to live there.

In conclusion I agree with the idea of cool city solving the global warming but I think it does not suite all the society.

Carbon Footprints

The total amount of greenhouse gases produced to directly and indirectly support human activities, usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) is called Carbon footprint. However anyone can calclate his Carbon Footprints, there are many diffrent webside to calclate it by ansering some categries question fast and easy.

CO2 is the chemical symbol for carbon dioxide so there are many ways to generate Co2 For example: When you drive your car to Dubai the engine burns fuel that gives a certain amount of CO2, depending on its fuel consumption and the driving distance. When you heat your house with oil, electricity, gas or coal this all can generate CO2. Also when you go for shopping to buy products such as food, it also emitted some quantities of CO2.

I measure my carbon foot print at some sites in the internet and almost everyone can calculate their carbon footprint so I calculated my carbon footprint it was 6.38average. Than I compared it to my partner's footprint First Ahmed got 7,9 earths and he was the nearest one to me, Ali got almost 3.3 earths and at last Faisel got 4.57 earths. So Ahmed got the greatest footprint from all my partners. At the countries side, UAE got the highest footprint measurement in the world (Wikipedia).

These carbons footprint can reduce Individuals and they are first minimizing energy use in the home, second travelling by public transport, third using the car less, fourth flying less frequently, fifth buying energy efficient products, also by consuming goods that have used little energy in their production and transport, even minimizing waste by reducing amount of animal products, fule and electricity uses. Also recycling Energy .

My opinion about the "an inconvenient truth movies"

An inconvenient truth movies which I saw it in the class with my teacher it is very nice and Al Gore makes it interesting and the way he provides his movies was amazing it could impress anyone who see it, that why I like it.
On the other hand there are some people who agree and others who disagrees with the movie. So in this essay, I will give my opinion about an inconvenient truth video .

For example, one of the disagree people said: Going on…You can get a better idea of ‘global warming’ when you quit trying to ‘micro-manage’ the carbon footprint…that is trying to blame it on individuals…the IMPACT of the carbon footprint can be seen every day…try flying above the Ohio & Missippi Rivers and you will see a COAL burning power plant every 20 to 50 miles apart…pumping out CO and CO2 into the atmosphere…of course THAT means you actually have to come out of your pre-conceived tortise shell FIRST! It’s NOT one vehicle that causes the problem…it’s millions of vehicles causing the problem…It was OK when it was just OUR nation doing it…but now CHINA & INDIA want to use the internal combustion engine as well! By the way HI SNORAX! ( Mr.John TEQP)

However, in my opinion, I agree with this movie because the movie talked about all the reasons about the global warming which is a very important thing. However, there is an other person who agrees with me and he said: Gone is the excruciatingly wooden, heavily-made up candidate from the controversial 2000 Presidential election. In his place, the team from An Inconvenient Truth shows you the Gore democrats wish the voting public had seen%u2014a comfortable, enthusiastic(Heather Huntington)

But , this movie is really worth watching and it should be available in educational centers like schools and colleges where people can get educated regarding global warming. Also the movie showed me the rate of global warming increased dramatically with the time, the problem is that they do not know how much such behaviors are harming the environment. I think its every one’s responsibility to spread the knowledge regarding global warming. I do admit Mr. Gore who used politics to serve the science and help serve the environment.
